Dental Bridge Ocoee FLBridges are one of the most effective solutions to tooth loss or damage that we have here at Classic Smiles. Bridges are fixed prosthetic teeth that are attached to the gap left when you've lost a series of teeth. A large tooth gap is never pretty, and it causes jawbone loss. Bridges are also used to cap damaged teeth after they've been treated and reshaped. Bridges are similar to crowns, only they may cover more than one tooth. The preparation and the procedure involved in installing bridges is quite similar to that of crowns. Bridges are a permanent solution, and you can use them just like you would use your ordinary teeth. Bridges are either made of ceramic, gold, silver, or porcelain. Porcelain and gold are the most preferred because of their durability and aesthetic value. Traditional BridgesAs the name suggests, traditional bridges are the most used types of bridge. They are what most people will be referring to when they talk of dental bridges. These bridges are fixed over the natural teeth adjacent to the tooth gap. The teeth adjacent to the tooth gap on either side are filed and reshaped and used as anchors for the bridge. Ceramic and silver are the cheaper options, but they are still quite effective. Cantilever BridgesCantilever bridges are quite similar to dentures except they are attached to an abutment on only one side. The abutment can either be a tooth or a dental implant. Cantilever bridges are used when the bridge is being attached at the end of the jaw, or where the tooth gap being filled is quite small. Maryland BridgesMaryland bridges are held in position by metal or porcelain frames instead of abutments. The frames are usually bonded onto the back of the teeth adjacent to the tooth gap. This type of bridge does not require the adjacent teeth to be filed and reshaped, or the placement of dental implants. Implant-Supported BridgesAs the name suggests the bridges, in this case, are placed over implants. Implant-supported bridges are used when the tooth gap is too large and requires ample support, or there are no natural teeth that can be used as anchors on either side of the gap. A series of dental implants are placed in the tooth gap. The dental implants are also placed to prevent the loss of jaw bone. Implant-supported bridges are the strongest and most effective type of bridges. They are usually strongly anchored, and they are fully functional. You have to the dental implant placement procedure which can be quite lengthy at times. Our accomplished prosthodontists will advise on which type of bridge is most appropriate for you. They will also take time to explain what the procedure will be like, to ensure you are comfortable with the treatment you are receiving.
