Is it Safe to Go Longer Than Six Months Between Visits to Our Office?

Posted on 9/21/2021 by Classic Smiles
Is it Safe to Go Longer Than Six Months Between Visits to Our Office?Realistically, yes. However, while the occasional delay is all right, repeated appointment delays or cancels can begin to badly affect the health of your teeth and you. We suggest six-month intervals because that is the maximum break between cleanings and check-ups that an adult needs to maintain their best oral health. Pushing that time frame out longer increases the chance of not identifying future discomfort, and it also puts your teeth in a sensitive state.

Why is Six the Magic Number?

As mentioned before, six months is the maximum suggested time frame. This is because significant damage can happen over a six-month period, and by coming to see us at the end of that, we can help to fix, prevent, and relieve any discomfort that has happened in that time.

Do You have Oral Discomfort?

A lot can happen in six months, and that's why we want you to come to see us. If we were able to have every patient come in four times a year, that would be far more beneficial for each individual person. But most people find that to be a hard schedule to stick to. That is why we suggest the six-month plan so strongly. And as an added bonus, because you are coming in twice a year, it builds a relationship with the staff, and it encourages you to come in the moment that you begin to feel any discomfort.
