Dentures‐ Complete and Partials Ocoee FL

Dentures are removable teeth prosthetics that our dentists here at Classic Smiles attach on the tooth gaps of patients who have lost their teeth. Dentures can either be complete or partial. Dentures are an option for those who have not yet decided on what permanent solution they should go for. Dentures do not involve any surgical procedures, although it might be necessary to extract some teeth on the jaw to ensure the denture fits properly.

Complete dentures are those that are designed for an entire jaw. Complete dentures are issued when you’ve lost all the teeth on your jaw. As mentioned above, if just one or two teeth have been left on the jaw, it might be necessary to extract them to allow the complete denture to fit perfectly. Partial dentures are used to fill up a tooth gap on the jaw.

How are Dentures Made?

Dentures are developed and manufactured over a couple of weeks. Dentures are custom-made to ensure they fit properly, hence the lengthy process. You’ll have to see our prosthodontist first so that they can determine what type of dentures you need. They will then take an impression of your jaw or tooth gap and send it to the lab so that the denture can be manufactured.

The process of manufacturing the denture might involve various tests and assessments, just to ensure you get the perfect denture. Different models of wax forms or plastic patterns will be tried on you during the assessment. The final denture needs to be in the right size, shape, and color. Dentures usually feature prosthetic teeth, which have an acrylic base. The acrylic base attaches itself to the gums and ensures the denture is in place.

How Do New Dentures Feel?

One of the commonly asked questions about dentures is how they function or how they will feel like in your mouth. New dentures will, in most causes, feel unnatural to begin with. You have to get used to having the dentures in your mouth and using them to eat and speak. You might also experience some irritation or soreness immediately you start wearing the dentures. These issues should go away in a short while when you get used to having the dentures in your mouth.

Dentures are quite similar to natural teeth, although they cannot function in the same way. No one would be able to tell that you are wearing a set of dentures unless they were looking quite closely. Dentures are manufactured precisely, and they will enhance your aesthetic appearance and smile. When you lose all the teeth in your jaw, your lips tend to collapse. The arch of the front teeth on your jaws holds your lips in position. Dentures can restore this arch and push the lips back into position, hence enhancing your facial appearance.
